Avachinsky Volcano
Natural Park "Volcanoes of Kamchatka" cluster "Nalychevo"

Avachinsky Volcano (2751 m / 9026 ft) is one of the «domestic» volcanoes located in 30 km (19 miles) from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This giant is magnificent and its slopes are decorated by bright and saturated colors. The crater is filled with volcanic plug and on the sides there are outlets of fumaroles. The top of the volcano offers panoramic view of «Nalychevo» Natural Park, the Avacha Bay and Pacific Ocean, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and 9 volcanoes, including Koryaksky, Mutnovsky and Gorely. Annually Avacha plateau hosts «Day of Volcano» Holiday. The main event is mass climbing race to the summit. According to some tourist publications, Avachinsky Volcano, along with such volcanoes as Eyjafjallajökull Volcano, Mount Fuji and Mount Etna, is in the list of ten volcanoes in the world that are worth visiting.
