Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
The capital of the Kamchatka Territory

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is the administrative center of Kamchatka Krai. It’s the largest city on the peninsula. Total population of the city is 182 thousand people.

The city stretches along the Avacha Bay. It is divided into three parts: the residential areas, the historic downtown and the business center. Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky has a rich history. Monuments to great travelers and explorers are located in the historic downtown. From observation platforms, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view. Enjoy the city surrounded by the Avacha Bay, Pacific Ocean and the volcanoes like: Avachinsky, Koryaksky, Kozelsky, Aag, Arik, Gorely, Vilyuchinsky and Mutnovsky.

Here one also will find National History Museum, Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Museum, Museum of Soviet Period and Geological Museum. Worth visiting are the fish market and souvenir shops.

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is a small city. One or two days are usually more than enough to see all its attractions. The rest of the time will be better spent outdoors, in surroundings of rivers, volcanoes and hot springs.
